Custom Lists For Parameters

I would like the ability to store custom lists that parameters can use while modeling. For instance, we could store a list of statuses in a txt or csv file somewhere on a shared or local directory. In that file, we would have a predefined list that describes each status we want to track (e.g. spooled, issued for fabrication, fabricated, installed, shipped, etc.) We have a project parameter in Revit called "Status" that would show up on the properties palette. Then, we could select elements in the model and change their status from a drop down list for that parameter to assign one of the predefined status descriptions.

This is only one example. This could also be used for standard notes that we need to apply to an element for annotation purposes, adding cost codes to particular services, assigning areas of a project to multiple elements, etc.
