Controlling Hanger Rod Sizes

Within CADmep, the hanger rod size is controlled at the ITM level through a support spec (see image). Unfortunately, that is not the best place to control it because you may need to use the same hanger for different materials, but the rod sizes for those materials may not be the same. For instance, per MMS-SP-58 (a common standard within the industry for pipe supports), a 4" steel pipe with 1" of insulation would use a 6" clevis hanger with 5/8" diameter rod. However, a 4" copper pipe with 1" of insulation would use the same 6" clevis hanger but with 1/2" diameter rod. This means you would need to have two ITM's for the exact same clevis hanger but with a different support spec applied to each one to accommodate the different rod sizes for the different materials. Our company does this and names both ITM's the same for reporting purposes. When setting up the hanger specs for eVolve Mechanical, you can select one of the ITM's that are in the service templates but if you have two t
